Made2Measure is a research project commissioned by the municipality of Maastricht. In March 2013, the municipality started the programme ‘Made in Maastricht’. Part of this programme is to support and stimulate Maastricht’s creative industries. The creative industry policy has been divided into four programmes; manufacturing, performing arts, film and media and fashion. Made2Measure is part of the Fashion Maastricht programme. Its goal is to investigate the impact of these stimulation policies on financial and economical aspects within the city. To this extent, we execute various exiting research projects concerning employment, business climate, students and spending patterns of Maastricht’s inhabitants and visitors. For more information about the specific projects which are in process now, or starting soon, click here.
Apart from academic research, Made2Measure is also responsible for organising an annual event for the creative industries, with a special focus on fashion. In starting year 2015, we organised a small symposium with a number of specialists, policy-makers and influencers from Maastricht’s creative scene. This day was all about sharing knowledge and identifying the needs and wants for the city’s creative activities to evolve. One of the conclusion of this day was that there is not clarity on how large Maastricht’s creative scene actually is. This need has translated in one of our sub-projects ‘Creative industry in peripheral areas’.
In 2016, the conference is significantly larger. We have a two day programme which is meant to help students, entrepreneurs and professionals in the cultural and creative industry in their career. One day is devoted to academics and one day to practitioners. More information on the programme, please click here.
