Common Knowledge #26

On Tuesday March 22nd, 2016 Rachel Pownall and Anouk Duivenvoorden were part of the discussion panel during Common Knowledge #26: Subsidizing Culture, how to measure the return of the investment?

Common Knowledge is a monthly series that offers a space of exchange for ideas, knowledge and experience supporting  cultural entrepreneurship. It connects professionals in the creative sector, and boosts their skills through workshops, discussions, lectures and presentation evenings. Every month, they offer a get together with varying topics. This particular evening was organized around the theme of art and investment/finance.

Anouk held a presentation which emphasized the importance of not only considering monetary, but also social value when measuring the return on investment. Afterwards, she took place in a discussion panel together with Rachel and Paul Lambrechts of the municipality of Maastricht. The session was moderated by Professor Aldo Do Carmo.

Good discussions were held between the panel members, but certainly also with the audience. All in all, an interesting and fruitful night which enlightened both the arts and finance side of investment in culture.
