The Institute of Cultural Capital (ICC) in is a strategic collaboration between the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University in the UK. They conduct collaborative and interdisciplinary research that critically examines the role and value of cultural interventions in urban environments, from grassroots initiatives to large-scale cultural events and festivals The ICC’s director, Professor Simeon Yates, joined us in September for the Maastricht Symposium on the Cultural and Creative Industries as a keynote speaker.
On November 10th, 2015 the ICC celebrated it’s fifth anniversary with a symposium on cultural capital within the UK, but also in an international context. Made2Measure was invited and Anouk went to check out the event. There were five main topics; Cultural Policy, City Narratives and Urban Myths (1), Cultural Leadership, Ethics and Values (2), Digital Culture, Inclusion and Policy (3), Participation (4), Cultural Assets and Social Value (5). The event was a great combination of lectures by researchers from the ICC and smaller group sessions on cultural initiatives within the city and the UK.
