About Kitty
Design came in her life when, as a student, she met Gert Dumbar who asked her to become his business partner in his own design studio he was setting up at that time. By the turn of the century, this meeting by chance had grown out to become Studio Dumbar: one of the most renowned Design Agencies in the world.
The big adventure ended some 20 years later when both Gert Dumbar and Kitty de Jong considered it time for a change. After leaving Studio Dumbar, Kitty set up her own communication agency.
She became a member of the board for the Dutch Design Awards and maintained contacts with the design branch and the BNO. When BNO was searching for a business consultant to handle all business related issues for its members, the match was easily made. In her current position as senior business consultant, Kitty de Jong is particularly occupied with everything that concerns the business part of the design industry, such as remuneration, tenders, labour contracts etc.
Kitty de Jong is board member of several institutions, such as Bureau European Design Associations (BEDA) in Brussels; Material Sense Lab in Eindhoven; Design Research Station (DRS22) in The Hague. She frequently lectures at academies and art schools and was a jury member in numerous design contests, such as the European Design Awards, The Henri van der Velde Awards and the German Design Awards.
